4th Of July!

Growing up Christmas was always my #1 favorite Holiday of the whole year. As I got older I started to develop a love for Independence Day! (Of course Christmas is still up there on the list, but for different reasons than when I was a kiddo.)

I think my love for the 4th of July stems from the tradition that my friends and I started in High School of climbing a hill near our house to get the best view of all the fireworks going off all around our town. We usually preceded the fireworks with swimming and BBQ. These 4th festivities usually included my then crush and now husband which also made it the best holiday :) (Shirtless and tan teenaged hubby- YES PLEASE! Such good times!)

Over the years and after the local wildfires our hills are always blocked off and patrolled so our tradition has taken a hiatus for now. But my love for the 4th remains in tact!

I am super excited to celebrate this year because now we have a little one of our own! Wyatt will be One in a couple weeks (wahhh!) and remembering a year ago, it is fun to be here 365 days later, not pregnant and running after my cute baby!

I am grateful for our Freedom and country! I am so grateful to celebrate the place that my babe and family will be able to grow up free and strong.

God Bless the USA!

Why do wedding photos take up such a large chunk of our budget?

As a photographer, I am always looking at photographs. I love to flip through photo albums from my parents' childhood, peruse my elementary school yearbooks and ogle my wedding photos from last year. Of course, I also love to click through my past clients sessions and see how happy they are with their loved ones, or how they learned to be comfortable and confident in themselves while flying solo during one of our portrait sessions. As a photographer, I chat with clients about their budgets for their upcoming wedding photographs all the time. I was married about 11.89 months ago and I can speak with experience from both sides of the bride/photographer table- the most important thing that you will spend your hard earned dollars on will be your wedding photographs. It seems hard to shell out more than 1,000 dollars for something you can hire your best friend from elementary school with the nice camera and kit lens to do for an 8th of the price, right? True, they will give you a ...

2017

I honestly can't believe how quickly time seems to fly the older I've gotten. Not that I think I'm old per-say, but as the years roll on, the faster they seem to pass. 2017 has been a great year with so many fun experiences. It has also been a year that has brought challenges, big and small, old and new. In 2017 we worked, we played, we cried and we laughed. 2017 brought us a perfect, wonderful baby boy. Wyatt is seriously one of the brightest lights in my life. Becoming a mother has been wonderful and I'm grateful that with each passing day it seems to get easier and more fun. It was rough going for the first few weeks, with "baby blues" and sleepless nights. But now whenever Josh and I sit and look at the cute faces our baby makes, when we listen to his giggles I can't help but feel like we are a puzzle, each making the other whole. We tried to do as many fun things as we could before I gave birth in July. For Josh's 28th birthd...

Mom Goals: Make more meaningful home movies!

One of my goals as a mother is to try and take lots of videos of my kids and family as we grow up. We live in a world full of technology. It is everywhere all the time... which for me, is a double edged sword. I like it and I hate it! But I am so pumped that we have such easy access to cameras and videos all day long so that I can capture so many of the fun things happening around us. The video above I made back when Wyatt was almost 6 weeks old and it is to one of my absolute favorite songs! It's called "If You Asked Me To" by Mckenzie Porter (she's Canadian!) and the music video she made is adorable. As a kid my favorite Sunday pass time was to watch home movies and look through photo albums. I want the same thing for my kiddos (and me) in the future so NOW is the time for me to break out the video camera (and iPhone camera, lol) as well as keep up with my tradition of printing a photo book every December for Christmas! Two years down, a million to go! Now for...
