Chickens!?

I've always been an animal lover. As a little girl I collected animal fact cards like little boys used to collect baseball cards. I had binders full of photos of my favorite animals that I would always flip through. Every time we saw an animal or a dog breed book at Costco, I would sit there and peruse every page day dreaming about the kind of animals I would one day have! When I worked on a teen youth ranch in Idaho the summer after graduating college I was obsessed with racing my girl friends on horseback. I always told myself that I didn't need to get married young, all I needed to be happy was to get to ride my own horse every day. 
Well, now that I'm an "adult" and married to the most wonderful man that I could've ever found, my love for animals has begun to burn again. Starting with our Aussie puppy, Ruby Lou, and spreading to our newly adopted chicks! So this first post on our blog is dedicated to introducing our feather babies!

I've always wanted to have chickens and now that we are on our own and living in the country, I just couldn't resist!

As a kid I would beg my mom to let us have a dog; I would come up with chores to do as bargianing chips hoping that the trade would be enough to get a puppy for my birthday or for Christmas. Ruby Lou

I should write about Ruby Lou since she's my little furry BFF and I love to show off photos of her! Like before mentioned, I've always been a little obsessed with animals, though in the years leading up to getting serious and getting married, I never really thought I would get a puppy as a newly wed...that lasted about 3 months! Haha. In October of 2015 I began to seriously want a puppy. I'm not sure what exactly possessed me to start those childhood dreams up again, but there they were. Why do wedding photos take up such a large chunk of our budget?

As a photographer, I am always looking at photographs. I love to flip through photo albums from my parents' childhood, peruse my elementary school yearbooks and ogle my wedding photos from last year. Of course, I also love to click through my past clients sessions and see how happy they are with their loved ones, or how they learned to be comfortable and confident in themselves while flying solo during one of our portrait sessions. As a photographer, I chat with clients about their budgets for their upcoming wedding photographs all the time.
